Elevated sand beds (ESB) can be utilized on sites where the limiting zone is at least 20". The type and sizing of an ESB is greatly effected by the slope of the site. A standard ESB can be installed on slopes of no greater than 8% while slopes greater than 8% but no greater than 12% require special design considerations. An ESB can also be utilized on slopes between 12% and 15% with the use of an experimental system. An example ESB design can be viewed here.
